Pretty Shivers don’t look or sound like your typical Northern Rock band. Although they hail from the dark, misty valleys of Darwen, Lancashire, you’d be forgiven for eyeballing the flares, leather jackets and haircuts, and placing them at Los Angeles’ sunset strip in the 1970s. However, don’t mistake their flamboyant attire for style over substance, as they maintain a down to earth, steely Northern grit and attitude.
The band’s sound also has an unmistakably retro feel, combining elements of Rock & Roll, Power Pop, Americana, Country & Soul. Their influences include Fleetwood Mac, Roxette, Jefferson Starship, Blondie, The Beatles, The Supremes, Heart & The Rolling Stones. Despite wearing nostalgia unashamedly on their sleeve, they still seem to create something that sounds completely fresh and new, bringing old-school vibes kicking and screaming into the 2020s, with modern production values and pop sensibilities.
Pretty Shivers excel in live performance, showcasing Miranda’s extraordinary vocal range, Mark’s exceptional guitar skills, and Toby, Annika and Rory’s ultra tight rhythm section.
Pretty Shivers released their first two singles: ‘Running Away’ and ‘Bonnie & Clyde’ in 2024. The songs boast a sumptuous string section, soaring vocal harmonies, electrifying guitar work and a relentlessly driving rhythm section, showcasing a taste of whats to come from their debut EP, due to be released in Spring 2025.
