Part 1: The Old Sound Bar
- The Sound Bar was established by Phil and Miles in 2015. It quickly became the go-to place for good music, good beer and good vinyl records (Phil is still part of the Sound Bar team).
- Undercover were the first live band to play at the Sound Bar at the end of May, 2015
- The Sound Bar was acquired by Dave and Lorraine in 2017. It continued to grow in popularity, with people travelling from far and wide to pay a visit.
- In January, 2018 the Sound Bar had a refurb, including an upgraded sound system, a new bar, a new floor and some much needed new loos
- The Sound Bar’s first gig with a major artist was the incredible Michael Chapman on August 16th, 2018. A fully sold-out gig and an exceptional evening of music and storytelling.
- The Sound Bar continued to grow in popularity until Covid sadly closed it down in March, 2020.

Part 2: The New Sound Bar
- Following Covid, it became clear that the Sound Bar had outgrown its original premises. The building was just too small; it literally couldn’t cope. There was also a wish to do more with the vinyl record side of the business and a passion for more live music. So, despite how much we loved it and what it had become, a decision was made to look for larger premises.
- At the end of May, 2022, the Sound Bar opened its doors in its current setting. A much larger building, and a dedicated live music venue. It was designed on exactly the same theme as the old Sound Bar, with much of the original artwork and decoration being carried over from the old building.
- 2024 the Sound Bar becomes recognized for its high-quality beers and awarded Cask Marque status.
- 2025 the Sound Bar is accepted as a member of the ‘Music Venues Alliance’ that recognises it as a true live music venue, supporting grass roots music, original music and community initiatives.
- 2025 the Sound Bar celebrates its 10th birthday
